Why Green Street is Green

Many Pasadena denizens, regulars and just plain Pasadenaphiles have traveled on Green Street. I am referring to the particular segment of that sweet drive between Marengo Avenue and Hill Street. Actually, you could start even on S. Los Robles Avenue. What makes Green Street so green is that, if you drove at a certain speed, you could travel the entire length of the street without actually having to brake. You're probably thinking, "Alright already, how fast?" I'm certain it's not exactly top secret, but try driving 28 miles per hour (for you digital dashboard owners), or about 30 mph.

Depending on when you enter the intersection, you may want to adjust your mileage accordingly until you "equalize" and are able to access all the green lights properly. With all the construction between Hudson Street and Lake Avenue lately, the effect may be lost in the traffic during peak hours on weekdays. What is the point of all this? Don't speed! It's not worth it. You'll just hit red lights anyway. And speaking of red lights, watch out. Pasadena has installed cameras at certain intersections, particularly near Union Street and Marengo Avenue. If you get that "flash photo" experience, it'll cost you a pretty penny (around $300). I've seen it happen to someone who drove into the intersection when it was yellow. I'll say it again: DO-NOT-SPEED through that intersection. Am I an anti-speeding advocate? Heck no. I'm just promoting anti-stupidity.
