Celebrity Sightings: Huntington Edition

As in many weekends, I am at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. Technically, the address of this institution is in San Marino, but the northern part of the grounds actually borders or is situated in Pasadena. The taxi cab drivers sometimes get confused, let me tell you. But, that's another story.

So, film actor Crispin Glover, accompanied by a beautiful blonde thing in a furry-collared longcoat, approaches me to ask where he and his date should place their stickers. Of course, I didn't recognize him as I don't usually look at people in the eyes, and, he was wearing sunglasses, a black leather longcoat, and black tie to boot! Before I had a chance to answer, someone else told him to place it anywhere visible, such as his tie. I don't think he was willing to place the sticker on his nice leather coat. Glover is best known as George McFly, Michael J. Fox's film dad in the Back to the Future (1985, 1989, 1990) movies; as "Thin Man" in the Drew Barrymore-produced Charlie's Angels films; and his star vehicle, Willard (2003). He isn't as tall as I imagined, but he must have been around 5'9". The IMDB Web site says he's about 41, but even through his dark sunglasses, I can tell he looks really young for his age. It looks like he takes very good care of his skin, as if he were only in his early to mid thirties. Perhaps it's the eyes that is the most telling! Any way, they casually stroll away to spend a lovely day inside the Huntington's grounds.

Not an hour later, television's Michael Gross, best known for many as Steven Keaton, the patriarch in Family Ties (1982-89), checks in with his wife. They spent some time inside the Bookstore & More, browsing through books and lithographs. I was somewhat surprised not more people stopped him for autographs inside the store. Perhaps they might have later on. He still looks great, and he's tall, too! This all happened around the lunchtime hours.

These are confirmed sightings. I've got several eye witnesses who can back me up that it wasn't just my imagination running wild again!
