It seems the best WiFi location in Pasadena is at Wheatberry Bakery Cafe, located at 65 S. Lake Ave., Pasadena (626) 795-7175. They are one of the few businesses in Pasadena that offer open wireless access, free to customers. I have been testing various places around town, and quite frankly, you can't really find a decent signal unless you're hacking into someone else's network without permission. I don't recommend that, in case you're wondering.
By the way, Wheatberry Bakery Cafe is getting a large following during lunchtime. They have a great lunchtime sandwich combo deal that used to cost $6.75 plus tax. It includes a half panini sandwich of your choice, soup, salad and drink (sodas or iced tea). I love their prosciutto, portabello or chicken pesto panini sandwiches--they're all fantastic! Everyone behind the counter is courteous and very helpful. I had some trouble logging into their network at first, but once I figured out that their o was a zero, everything was great. They just raised their sandwich combo prices recentlly, but it's still a cool place to eat, read or surf.
I've read other comments about rude service, but that has not happened to me, and I've been going once or twice a week for several months now. Man! I hope they don't stop offering free wireless service. I haven't had much luck finding open wireless service. Everyone seems to work so hard there. I bet it's not an easy job to always be pleasant and professional.
